There is evidence that essential oils have an effect on ruminant coccidiosis on both large and small ruminants by disrupting the life cycle of coccidia. The product is creating a hostile environment where the full life cycle of the coccidian parasite cannot be completed.

As conclusion oregano oil can be used in ruminants not only as a “natural” rumen modifier, but also for stimulating feed intake, prevention of coccidiosis, and increasing performance with no residues or side effects. By reducing Rumen NH₃ production there are also considerable reductions in environmental emission.
